What a difference a month makes

About a month ago I was feeling down, you can read that on this post, not quite depressed but was getting there quick. The holidays were coming and all I wanted to do was run down to Colombia to be away from it all. I did not have a reason to stay here for Christmas, not even my family who I dearly love.

Then you get wrapped up in something that is not real and make some stupid decisions that cost a lot. At least I now have my sanity and dignity.

For a Deaf Son

I have mentioned my interest on ASL from the beginning of the blog. Then I started taking the class. It is almost coming to an end. I have now completed one of the biggest assignments for this class, which was a reaction paper to the movie. I also mentioned the movie here on the blog, that caused a little bit of controversy. I will now post my paper and feel free to comment on my opinions, but please inform you in the subject before making any harsh remarks. This time they will not be tolerated.

Thanksgiving Post

Sometimes I don’t even remember that it has not yet been a full year since I started this blog. I have been blogging in one way for a long time, my friends can be a testament to the fact that when I write an e-mail it tends to be a little lengthy. Even when I talk, I tend to just go on and on and on… But they love me anyways and put up with the length of my communications.

I used to send a Christmas email as well as a New Years one recounting several events that took place during the year. I wonder if anyone still has one of those in their inbox… if you do send it to me. I don’t think I ever did a thanksgiving email but I want to take an opportunity to express how thankful I am.

First I want to thank God. God has been good to me this year, opening my eyes to a lot of my mistakes. Guiding me through very difficult times and giving me hope for the future. God also did something wonderful by putting my girlfriend in my path. Without her a lot of the happiness I have now would not be here.

I am very thankful for my best friend Bogi. I could not have had a better friend in the difficult times that I faced this year. For keeping me centered and going when I needed it most and also standing behind every decision wrong or right. For being a friend that I know has my back.

To the coworkers that became my friends, something I thought I would never find again. Thank you, it was rough being in a new place, but I now feel home.

To my online friends, wow what would I have done without you guys… you keep me thinking that what I write is interesting enough to read, and have debated with me on levels that opened up my view to new ideas and ways of thinking. Thanks for all the support.

Long Post

Tons to cover with this one… it was a pretty eventful weekend.

Drove back to Chicago Friday night to pick Bogi up. Stayed at my Sis’ house and my little neice is just cuter and cuter every days. Check out the moblog, then met up with Ramon before he was off to his lady’s B-day on Sat. I had all intentions of getting together with the CLSB crowd but did not make it. Picked up Bogi and he just wanted to drive back to Michigan so we did. The drive was good since we got to catch up on a lot of stuff.

Then yesterday was the George Carlin show. I was not as impressed as I tought I was going to be, I mean he is excellent and makes you laugh, but I felt like it was way too short. Also he redid a couple of jokes and for a fan that has heard a lot of his material before, well that kind of leaves you wanting a little more. His opening and closing monologs were brand new, but he was still rehersing them… and I do have to admit that all the new stuff is solid. The guy is unbelievable. He did plug Jersey girl, and said he actually believed on the movie… Kevin Smith is awesome, but I tought the Ben AssFleck factor might affect the movie… I will give it a try just because of Carlin though.

Got to hang out around Ann Arbor for a little bit, and it is not a bad city… I would defenetly have to come back. The venue was also good but I happened to sit right behind the tallest guy in the whole theater, I mean eve sitting down he was probably taller then me… ok, maybe night but he was tall. I had to pull a lizard move the whole show, moving to either one of his sides every time he moved. I guess that made the show suck just a little… but I had good company so that made it better.

On the walk to the Hill Auditorium I got to see a huge dog… probably the largest husky I have ever seen. I really like that breed… I have looked at Alaskan Malamute’s before, but Husky’s are just huge. Cannot wait to get a house to have some dogs.

Also finished reading Tuesdays with Morrie, what an exceptional book. I think this is a must read for anyone that loves life and wants to. I will be doing a review of it in just a bit. The book also has a movie made from it… so maybe I will do a double review, I hear that they go hand in hand :)

The break from work is over… off to the races now 😉

Ladies and Gentleman, I live in Michigan

Last week I saw a really cool thing driving to work, It was snowing where I was at, but if you look at the horizon you could see the sunset in all its splendor. The sky had this awesome orange tint to it. It was really beautiful. I do not like Orange as a color, probably the reason I am not running out to go hunting… but in nature any color can be so magnificent.

Well today I am driving to work and it is snowing so heavy that you can barely see the car in front of you. I do not mind the cold, or the winter too much, I can even stand the snow. What I really miss during the winter is the sun. I think that is probably why I decided to upload another album. My sister and her family went to Cancun in 2003.

At first moving to Michigan was tough, in part because it felt like a vacation. Not having my family here is tough beyond words at times. Despite the weather, Michigan and this area is really warm because of its people. I have encoutered nothing but genuine people, even if they are pissed off, they do not make excuses about it and are up front. I think that is an excellent thing.

Now, I am just longing for the time I spent on Cancun and seeying the pictures of my sister’s trip makes me want to go there again. Well next vacation will be Vegas for one of my friend’s wedding, and that should defenetly take me away from the cold weather. Maybe rent a bike and do some riding out there.
