About Me
First lets get the question that most people ask first out of the way, Logtar has been my online handle since back in college, I got it out of a video game and it is pronounced LOG-TAR
I grew up in a Cali, Colombia. Cali is the third largest city behind Bogota and Medellin. Many people think of Colombia as a country where the streets are not paved and you have to travel in a cargo plane next to pigs and chickens to get there. I find that funny and blame Hollywood for the misinformation. Some day I will actually get this blog about Colombia going, but I just don’t have time to create content for it anymore.
My first language is Spanish, I learned English during my late teens so this blog started as an exercise to further improve my writing. However, this blog has done a lot more than that for me, it has connected me with people from all over the world. Most importantly, thanks to this blog I met my wife. We are actually from the same city in Colombia but were living in North America when we started talking, she was in Canada and I was here in the US. After years of friendship we ended up together and started our life as a couple in Kansas City. Even though we have now moved to the Chicago area, Kansas City will always be the place where our relationship was born. We left many dear friends back there, so it is definitely a second home for us.
I started my professional life as a computer programmer, and have worked most of my career in the Document Management and Workflow side of things. I have been a project management and done consulting in the past. I am now a senior analyst for a firm that keeps me plenty busy. One of my other passions that has also given me money is translation and interpretation. I used to do some writing for blogcritics and an online tech website, but have not done it for a while. I have a hard enough time creating content for my own sites but loved the experience of working with both of those sites. I do freelance for the right projects, so just contact me if you need any of my professional services.
In my spare time I love to hang out with my wife and try new restaurants. We also both enjoy hanging out with our family and friends. Life its all about relationships and the better they are, the better your life will be. I also enjoy movies and books, but LOVE video games. I have recently started playing more with my XBOX but sadly there is just not enough time, but some day we have to grow up… right? I also love martial arts, I have practiced Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu and miss training quite a bit. I enjoy a good game of chess, but don’t turn down a challenge in other board game. My other passion is motorcycles even though right now I am bikeless, but I will be fixing that problem soon enough.
Life is a river of ever flowing water that sometimes gets damned by situations. Sometimes life itself makes the water stop flowing, but more often we are the culprits. I felt like the water that made up my soul was stagnant for quite some time in many areas, then I met my wife. Thanks to her, it feels once again like it is flowing, and life gets better every day.
