Quote Trivia

I’ve had this idea for a while. The characters might change, but I think it will be fun and maybe in some cases even enlightening. I love using quotes by other people when I talk about a subject. Calling it Trivia so that Mesha does not freak out, because we all know I blog just for him.

So the game is simple. I will give you three quotes and three sources, your task is to guess who said what. Most of my favorite quotes come from these three sources (The Bible, Confucius and Anonymous) so we will start with those two. You can guess (or know) and answer right here, or you can challenge your readers. You might think its pretty straight forward, but you might be surprised. So have fun

“When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves.”

“Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

“You can’t truthfully explain your smallest action without fully revealing your character.”

  1. still a borderline meme, and ALL Confucius quotes start with words “Confucius Say..:”

  2. You can’t truthfully explain your smallest action without fully revealing your character.”

That’s a famous quote by the Black Spy who, truth be told, was more of a thinker than the White Spy.

And I’m pretty sure you just made the other 2 quotes up.

  3. Hah, you didn’t say “Simon Says” so I not do it. :P

  4. You know we have Internets available, right?

  5. I was hoping most people would use their own brain and guess before they use their google brain.

  6. “When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves.”

    Hey: I remember this one!

Back when “Dirty-leg Lou” Ciccone first left NY she took up with Sean Penn. Well, Sean is nothing if not overly intellectual and he would sometimes be appalled by the behavior of the woman he loved (and married).

This one time they were making love Dirty-leg said something so off the left field wall, so outré that Sean was taken outside of himself. He says he just pulled out of her right then and there and went into the kitchen to make some coffee.

Once the coffee was made, he sat buck naked on those retro-50s chromium kitchen chairs she liked so much, a bit of creased vinyl wrinkling his right ass cheek. So Sean sat and tried to figure the girl out for, what? He says 20-30 minutes, but agrees it could have been an hour. Anyhow, he sort of returns to himself and sees he’s holding an empty coffee cup and Louise is standing in the doorway to the kitchen, poppin’ that gum in her mouth the way she always did, she’s still naked too and Sean’s thinking about how hard she works to keep that body tight, taut as a snare drum, man, when she yells at him.

“Hey, dickhead! Whattaya mean pullin’ out like that! An whattaya doin’ in heah, huh?”

Sean just shook his head, said that sometimes he was contrary for no reason he could explain.

And that’s when Dirty-leg said it:

“When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves.”

    * * *
