I'm adopted and I never really had that feeling from the adoption itself, but rather the way my adopted parents behaved toward me and all of my siblings. I think it depends on how the adoptive family treats the adopted kid. Even with all of our problems growing up, my family NEVER treated me like I was different or really even mentioned the fact that I was adopted. In fact, even when I bring it up now, they're almost hurt that I even think of it -- like I don't want to be connected to them.

I'm not comfortable with my smile so I seldom initiate but I will smile back!

Sorry about your friend... but feeling abandoned is a common issue, even with kids who were not adopted but who come from divorce or even through the death of a parent. It's just something they need to learn to work through... it's tough but most of us have something to deal with no matter what our circumstances. We just have to make the most of where we come from.

I agree with Nuke... you so cheated on the salad! lol

Have a great weekend and drop by if you can!

Great feast! I'm having fun reading everyone's Salad. How interesting they all are.

It's wonderful reading all the adoption stories.

Come on over and feast with me.

I wonder if that feeling of abandonment is common. I hope not.
