Malcolm Gladwell give a pretty humorous account of his first years as a newspaper reporter in Washington. I can't tell how much of it is exaggeration, but it's pretty entertaining and not at all perverse nor baffling. It starts at about the 46 minute mark in the episode. I think you would enjoy it. It is not a road map nor a new religion, however for me it was catalytic to change some of my pre conceptions about some things. While it sounds like a message transmitted to us for years, it is interesting to discover new forms of thought. I haven't read the book yet, but I wouldn't associate it with any specific philosophy or dogma. In fact, I am reading Norman Vincent Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking" and I can see the message is basically the same. While Dr. Pearce has Christian beliefs as the base of what he teaches, it can be applied by anyone to their lives.
