Last post of 07
I really thought that my life had changed in 06, moving to a new city, ending a horrible relationship, facing some demons I had left in the cellar and did not deal with, but it cannot hold a candle to the year that 07 was. Not only did I marry my best friend, I also started enjoying life in a whole new way that I always knew was possible, trying to be completely happy and content every single day of my life.
I could make into a recap post, but I want it to be a little more than that… I want it to be my online gift to you so lets begin.
First you need to change your password. What? Work? yes. Begin this year being less of a victim and picking better passwords. Please read up on my guide how to pick a good password and what phishing is all about.
Second you need a laugh. If you are not aware, I have started a collection of the funny things I find online and been putting it on my tumblr. I bet you a penny that you will find at least one of the posts absolutely hilarious.
Third is very simple, do not be a pack rat. No I am not talking about personal possessions, even though that can lead to problems too. I am talking about things that bother you, if you woke up and tripped over a show that your significant other left there, just tell them it ticket you off without making it a big deal… it is liberating.
Right before the last thing I want you to do, I know I am kind of pushy, is to stop trying to please others and please yourself. Do not feel guilty for saying I want to do this instead of that. Being polite about what you want in life is the key, but seriously, pleasing others is not going to make you happy. Sure, it works for a while, but the moment that other person is not happy with something you did it all falls apart. So trust me, making others happy is very easy when you are happy first.
Last but not least, promise me that today you will call a family member or a friend that you have not talked to in a while. You do not have to kiss and make up, just wish them a happy new year and try to be the bigger person.
This year I made some great new friends and just this past weekend I met some of the local bloggers and some if not most have the potential of becoming friends. On that note I leave you with one thing I learnt this year, to have a true relationship both people have to want it. Relationships take a lot of work and doing it alone does not build a friendship, only resentment.
So take the good, leave the bad and have a happy new 2008!
