The Empire Strikes back was far better than Return of The Jedi. Also, since when was Gremlins a kid’s movie? (Of course, many of your categories are off. The Evil dead, for example, is hilarious but few would disagree that it’s a horror movie.)

I’ve actually seen a lot of great movies made before I was born. John Carpenter’s Halloween is one of my favorites.

I’ve only seen 48 of those movies.

Ever here of Requiem For A Dream. It’s an amazing film and i highly recomend that you see it if you haven’t already. Also you should probably add One flew over the Cuckcoos nest, just because it’s such a fantastick peice of work. Other then that , nice list.

I think I’ve seen all but five of these, many of which are on my top 100 as well. I was going to something similar whenever I get through watching the original AFI Top 100 list. I agree that it’s been difficult to watch some of the older films as the stories and effects have not held up. Even a co-worker of mine was telling me that he thinks comedy suffers from the same change in culture, as we’ve continually pushed the envelope.

I stopped reading after Return of the Jedi. Come on man… Jedi? That movie was horrible. A bunch of puppets. Empire was clearly the better movie. Dark, evil… the bad guys win.

Wait, I gotta go back up and check one more thing…

Great list .. my favorite one is City of God, which is just about the best movie I’ve ever seen .. not on your list, I would highly recommend Y Tu Mama Tambien, a great Mexican coming-of-age road movie

Logtar’s 100 Must See Films…

A reader, Logtar, saw my recent post about Jim Emerison’s list of 102 movies to be movie “literate” and came up with his own list of modern must-see movies. The short of it, I’ve seen 59 of the 100 movies……
