This morning at 2 A.M. Mi Abuelito (My Grandpa) passed away. This blog has been the means to express myself and it has helped me through some rough times… kind of like a friend that always listens without judging me or my feelings. I am extremely sad about it and would love to go to his funeral but at this point I am not sure if the time and money will cooperate.

I would like to take this opportunity not to mourn but to celebrate his life and what he believed in. Accepting others for who they are, higlighting the importance of education, knowledge and respect. He leaves a huge void in my life and heart. I miss you already Grandpa, even though I have not been able to see you as much as I wanted to for the last 11 years…

John, my prayers go out to you and your family for your loss. But, like you said, keep in mind his life and not his death, and smile.

John,

My prayers will be with you and your family in this time. It is never easy and I was glad to see you stating something that is healty in the passing of a loved one, not to morn but to celebrate the life that they had. We still need time to morn but we also need to know how to celebrate the life and legacy that our loved ones leave behing.

I think yesterday’s post was a fine tribute to somebody that really made a difference in your life. All we can hope for is that we have enough impact on a person’s life so that we may be remembered in our death. I believe that the reward for life is not that we may live eternally, but to know that we did all we could for the people we loved during our short stay in this world. There’s no doubt that your grandfather would be honored to know that even complete strangers mourn for him with you.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. He sounds like a great man. May you find peace in this celebration of his life.

Y que se descansa en paz a su abuelito. Un abrazo de mi a ti y una esperanza de pudieras tener tus buenas memorias de tu abuelito siempre.

BTW I saw that you linked my site and I linked you back in the “why not electrify your mind” section. I should have linked you along time ago. You are great guy. I really like to read what you have to say.

Voy orar a Dios para ti a para tu familia. Hasta luego mi amigo.

My deepest condolences as well Logtar. It’s always sad to lose a loved one, but it’s so much deeper when it’s a loved one who you regretably have not been able to be with for such a long time. Next Sunday marks the one year anniversary of my Grandma’s passing, and we are holding a prayer at home… I will be sure to include a silent moment for your Grandpa.

*HUGS*

Losing someone is always difficult, even if they get to the point where it’s not unexpected. Your grandfather sounds like a great man, and I can see why you’d want to celebrate him.
