Logtar Looney Lunes

I had an excellent weekend, hopefully you all did too :) well it has come for me to do another LLL and this time it is about the city or town where you were born… a sort of beginings meme.

1. What is the name of the city where you were born and what does the name mean?
2. Tell us something historical about your city? (When was it founded, by who… etc)
3. You probably know a secret about your city that outsiders would never know… tell us.
4. How big is your city? (population wise, size wise, etc)
5. Do you still live in that city? Would you ever move (or if you have moved away move back?)

Bonus Question.
Why should anyone visit your city?or why should anyone stay away?

1. What is the name of the city where you were born and what does the name mean?
The city where I was born is commonly known as Cali, its full name is Santiago De Cali. The first part of the name is derived from its foundation on the feast day of Saint James the Greater(Santiago in Spanish) the later is an indigenous Quechua word that means in here. 2. Tell us something historical about your city? (When was it founded, by who… etc)
My city was founded by Sebastián de Belalcázar in 1536. Who was a conquistador.
3. You probably know a secret about your city that outsiders would never know… tell us.
My city used to have really low crime a long time ago. A murder was just something that did not happen… so much that when it did, it left a street to take the name, not officially but just by word of mouth most people in Cali know “La Calle del Muerto” or the street of the murdered.
4. How big is your city? (population wise, size wise, etc)
I would venture to say that Cali has about 5 million people that live there… I did not find an exact figure and the last census was in 1997 so it is a little outdated.
5. Do you still live in that city? Would you ever move (or if you have moved away move back?)
I lived in Cali for the first 16 years of my life, then I moved to Chicago. I am not sure if I would ever move back completely but I would love to have a house there some day.

Bonus Question.
Why should anyone visit your city?… or why should anyone stay away?
Besides its wonderful weather (75 F all year around), and its beautiful architecture, it is known to be Colombia’s number one party town. Specially during the month of December when we lave La Feria De Cali

Everyone is welcome here to Bogotá, 2600 Mts closer to the stars.
