I am sitting here at home kind of sad knowing that I will be heading back to work tomorrow. This weekend was excellent and it seems like it just flew by. Both Cielo and I took Friday off since Ty did not have school and we took him to Detroit to see the Zoo and the Detroit Institute of Art.

The Zoo at first seemed like a long walk by the map, but with the nice weather it ended up being not that bad at all. All of the animals looked very good except for all the primates. I am not sure what it is about the exhibit, but to me they looked extremely sad. Their human like qualities made me somewhat uncomfortable. None of them were very active and they seemed very unhappy. Cielo really liked the Zebra’s, they were really active and seemed to be having fun harrasing the Zookeeper that was scooping their poop. Ty really wanted to see the Bison, he just finished a school project where he researched them, and then even made a little model of one.

Then we met Cielo’s family, Mom, Dad, Sis and Sis’s BF for Lunch over at Pegasus in Greektown downtown Detroit. The food was good, but not impressive, we did the Zaganaki and then played it safe and ended up getting Gyro’s. I am not a huge Greek food fan, but I do like Gyros.

Off to the museum after lunch, we had only a couple of hours and were kind of afraid it would not be enough but it ended up being plenty to see everything. I was happy to see 3 Picasso’s, and some other artists that right now I cannot remember by name. Cielo really liked seeing an Andy Warhal. There was a lot of Suits of Armor and art from all over the world. It was really neat to see it all. There was nothing from Colombia, but a couple of pieces from Costa Rica made it feel like I was looking at Colombian art.

The rest of the weekend we dedicated to movie watching, walking outside in the beautiful weather and just enjoying each other’s company. I do have to highlight the Matrix Marathon. We watched all three and I still have to say it is my Top Movie trilogy.

Enjoy the pictures and let me know how you spent your weekend.

Cielo, Ty and I went to the Zoo and the museum today. Tons of pictures to post up :) but too tired, going to bed. I hope everyone has an excellent weekend.

The following is the list of the greatest 100 movies. The ones bolded I have watched, the ones with an * Cielo has. It surprises me that with all the movie watching that I have done I have not watched more.

ONLY IN AMERICA:

Only in America…..do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. (Totally True)

Only in America……do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke! (Or at the movie Theater - cinema A large order of popcorn extra butter, Large Diet… guilty as charged)

Only in America……do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters. (Also 24 hr a day convenience stores have locks on them :) )

Only in America……do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage. (This has been recently corrected in our household)

Only in America……do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight. (I think things have changed here)

Only in America……do we use the word ‘politics’ to describe the process so well: ‘Poli’ in Latin meaning ‘many’ and ‘tics’ meaning ‘bloodsucking creatures’.

Only in America……do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. (I think this is due to the manufacturing of all of them at once, so the walkups get done at the same time as the driveups.)

EVER WONDER .

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why women can’t put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don’t you ever see the headline “Psychic Wins Lottery”?

Why is “abbreviated” such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do “practice”?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn’t there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Enjoy :)

I am addicted to TiVo. For those of you not familiar with it, it is a DVR (Digital Video Recorder). It basically lets you record TV to be played later, like having a very responsive easy to use VCR but without the tapes, the rewinding and the poor quality since it is all recorded digitally. We have 2 at home and they are both dual tuners. The dual tuner feature makes it possible to record 2 different channels at once.

The TiVo lets you record live TV while you watch, so that if you miss something you have instant replay capabilities. It also has the option to quickly skip commercials when you are watching recorded shows. It really changed my TV viewing experience because now I hardly ever channel surf, most of the time I have a variety of pre-recorded shows to watch.

I would miss TiVo if I did not have it, and there is also ways of making it even better like hooking it up to a computer and then being able to put your Shows into DVD, something that I will do in the future if I get a chance. Some of the newer TiVo’s actually have network connections to transmit data from your PC to be played by the TiVo. It is really a revolutionary little gadget that is changing the way I personally enjoy TV.

A couple of days ago I was passed a musical baton by Mo and it’s time I respond!

Total volume of music files on my computer:
I believe is somewhere between 20 and 25 GB. I have a number of MP3 CD’s and 5 GB sitting on my work computer.

The last CD I bought was:
Clutch, all of the CD’s for Cielo.

Song playing right now:
The humming of the electric generator or a garbage truck, cannot tell from here.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

1. Love Song by 311
2. Perfect Day by Alice DeeJay
3. Down With the Sickness by Disturbed
4. Tangled by Maroon 5
5. Haiducii by Dragostea din te

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:
1-Marchal
2-Pol
3-Evil Atari
4-Michael
5-Barry

I really liked this movie. I am sure that a lot of people are overanalyzing the movie to pieces, but I honestly believe this was the best movie in the prequel trilogy. The special effects were pretty good, the story picked up a bit in terms of acting, and it also stayed true to the story line. I like the fact that Lucas did not try to make things more complex but showed the progression of the characters towards what they become in the next movie.

What better way to end the prequels than to set it up for the next chapter without some strange attempt at an evil twist? Some say that he had to fit everything into the story, but in reality he could have done something different or centered the movies on other characters. The StarWars universe is that, a universe, and he had endless possibilities.

My only disappointment was the killing of the Jedi. I know that they were betrayed, but Jedi’s rock, I would have liked to see them fall after tearing half of the clones that were attacking them apart. The movie was already long but I would have put aside the awkward love scenes for more Jedi butt kicking.

My all time favorite moments in the movie came thanks to R2D2. He rocked the movie not just providing comic relief but seriously kicking butt. I cracked up when he comes into the room as in we are saved, but then you find out that he was just being chased. That was hilarious.

The saddest moments in the movie were thanks to Darth Vader. It was sad for me to see that he chose that path; it was a nice build up to what he becomes. I do not fault the actors for the script, and even though this was a lot better than the past 2 prequels, it was still not awesome.

I say go see it if you have not already. You might know exactly what is going to happen, but hey everyone also knew the Titanic was going to sink. So go see Yoda kick some butt.
