New Year Quotes

“Optimism is essential to achievement and it is also the foundation of courage
and true progress.”
– Lloyd Alexander

“A man without ambition is dead. A man with ambition but no love is dead. A man
with ambition and love for his blessings here on earth is ever so alive.”
– Pearl Bailey

Optimism and ambition are the two words I want to start this New Year. I do not want to list new years resolutions rather I want to talk about a vision. This year I want to improve myself, to experience true progress in my life through self-actualization. I want to become a better person more self aware not only of my shortcomings but also of my achievements. I also want to be grateful for my blessings.

I have a new life, and I am a new man. I have met the love of my life and she has already changed who I am for the better. She also makes me want to be a better person.

The first quote really talks about how I think about life. I believe in positive thinking and all that can be accomplished through it. Doubt can always hinder optimism, but we have to believe, have faith and just know that we are capable of the impossible.

The second quote has a lot of meaning now that I have love in my life. It is really important to have ambition but you need love to steer that ambition in the right direction.

I wish everyone a happy 2005 may you accomplish every goal you set!

  2. Okay…don’t come and beat me up for this. Remember, this is just a different take. I really hope that your lady love is not changing you nor are you changing her but that you are both growing together as you travel the road of life and love together. I know that you know that there’s nothing I believe is more important in life than love — I also believe that although we should be committed, we should never relinquish who we are to the ones we love and are committed to. It’s really too deep for me to explain the entire thing here but knowing my heart I’m sure you know that this isn’t meant to offend. Basically I guess what I believe is “surrender to the love, but never give up who you are and never, EVER change for anyone but yourself. Of course this is the opinion of an old woman who is thrice married and thrice divorced but crazy in love and not bitter. ;^D Is this making any sense? And do you still love me? lol

Gosh, my lil brother is growing up. *sheds a proud tear* sniff, sniif Hugs and kisses to your and your love.

  3. Glad to see you found your muse. :-)

  4. Friday,

I would never compromise who I am, what makes me John… that said the right person has made me grow and see things that I had overlooked before. Sometimes it takes someone as strong as her to look at you in the eyes and just say three words to make you feel validated.

2004 was a very confusing and painful year for me, I had no compass anymore, and in some senses I realized I did not have one to begin with… but every day I traveled that sea of uncertainty and grew a little and learned more and more. As I gathered up different experiences I was still lost and confused, even with more knowledge I still had no way to follow and little in the way of answers.

Then one day right in front of me I found my way. Someone that with just one look made me feel love. Someone that made me look at myself in a different way and helped me pick up the pieces and put myself together again. Someone that does not settle for anything but the best that I have to give. Someone that is going to challenge me to accomplish things by believing in me and just help me grow every day. I think we both have grown together in a lot of senses, but we help each other accomplish things not expect them.

The most beautiful thing of all is that this is all coming via love, and that its all positive and constructive. Now we are building the thing that I longed for the most, a family! :)
