Week 21 – Movie-Going Habits

So you’re going to the movies. We know all about which ones you like, which ones you don’t like, your criticisms, your raves, your rants….

Eh. Let’s get to the real stuff. What are your movie-going habits?

1) Do you go to the movies alone or with friends/family? Do you know exactly what movie you’re going to see before you get there, or do you stand for 30 minutes outside the box office trying to decide between Pauly Shore and Meryl Streep?
Any way I can. I end up going alone to the movies that friends and family do not want to go to… but I go with friends or family as aften as I can.

2) When you go to the movies, do you usually buy:
a) Popcorn? What do you put on it?
Salt and butter.
b) Cokes? What’s your favorite?Diet Pepsi.
c) Candy? What gets stuck most in your teeth?Dots.
d) Other (hot dog, nachos, sushi)?Nachos and Pretzel bits.

3) Do you like it load and raucous in the theatre, or do you immediately stuff crying babies in the nearest waste can? Do you talk back to the screen and interact with the movie, or do you sink way down in your seat and just experience it?
I love a full theater for movies so that it fills with laughter, even at the expense of missing some of the funny parts due to it. Other than that I like a quiet theater, preferible all empty so I can enjoy the movie alone or with the people I came with.

BONUS) What’s your favorite, most memorable movie-going experience? What experience almost (or maybe did) make you vow never to darken the door of a cineplex again?
Oh there are plenty, The reel catching fire during the previews at one of the latest startwars movie. It was the preview for minority report. That was kind of funny.

Remember, silence all cell phones, pagers, and electronic devices while answering this quiz. And NO SMOKING!!! (water gun effect)

I usually know what I’m going to see. I usually go alone. No one will go with me.

    2) When you go to the movies, do you usually buy:
    a) Popcorn? What do you put on it? When I do buy it, butter and salt… extra of both
    b) Cokes? What’s your favorite? Usually sneak in my own soda…. Mr Pibb.
    c) Candy? What gets stuck most in your teeth? I always buy snowcaps or buncha crunch.
    d) Other (hot dog, nachos, sushi)? I have occasionally bought nachos… only to eat about 6 chips and get full….

    3) Do you like it load and raucous in the theatre, or do you immediately stuff crying babies in the nearest waste can? Do you talk back to the screen and interact with the movie, or do you sink way down in your seat and just experience it?

I bring knuckles to the movie theater…. You know that part between the movie and the preview?? Where it gets really quiet?? I stop chewing… I occasionally hold my breath as well…. I don’t like to hear anyone else around me and I’m pretty short tempered with chatty teens and people who like to interact with the movie.

BONUS) What’s your favorite, most memorable movie-going experience? What experience almost (or maybe did) make you vow never to darken the door of a cineplex again?

My favorite is when a group of teens were talking, loudly– So I got up from my seat and sat down next to them… When they finally all noticed me sitting there, I told them to shut the **** up or I’d take them all outside and eat my popcorn from the bottom of their ****ing skulls. They all became very quiet for the rest of the movie.

  2. WOW I don’t read your posts for a while and what happens…u start lying to your loyal readers. Shame…shame on you. Well let me correct the great “Know it All”. It was not a Starwars movie but Matrix 2.

  3. I did not mean to lie… I thought it was starwars… thanks for keeping me honest oh great one LOL

  4. 1. I use to go with my friends and most of the time I know what I’m going to see…

    2. a) Salt b) 7UP c) Snikers d) Nachos

    3. I DO like quiet theaters…. I hate noise

BONUS: best -> LOTR (the 3 of them)
    worst -> The Hours

  5. 1. We decide what we’re going to be seeing that evening, determine the time that will work for us and then my husband insists on getting there 45 minutes EARLY so that he can get the best seat in the house. It’s crazy!!!

    2. Food –
    a. Popcorn with butter and salt.
    b. Diet Coke or Pepsi, whatever is available – extra large.
    c. No candy, husband is diabetic, although I would LOVE some Snowcaps..yum.
    d. NO NO NO hot dogs that have been rolling up and down for four hours!

    3. Quiet theater. Although I do talk to the movie screen, Just can’t help myself. We recently went to see “Ladder 49″ and I kept saying “OH NO..don’t go in there. OMIGOD they’re not going in there, are they?”

Bonus question – Memorable movie experience. I can’t possibly think of just one. I can, however, come up with my worst movie experience ever…and that was “The Gangs of New York”. At least a dozen people got up and walked out and I certainly SHOULD have done that. It was bizarre, violent, crazy and totally messed up story. As I walked out I turned to my husband and said, “Scorsese is on heavy drugs! That’s the most messed up stupid movie I’ve ever seen!”

  6. Great answers. Thanks so much for playing. =)
