First ASL class

Last night was my first ever ASL (American Sign Language) class. Well, it was my second, but the first one was just introductions and stuff… yesterday the learning began.

We did some fingerspelling exercises and started practicing on asking people their name and telling them ours. Also got a little vocabulary. I am excited and cannot wait to start learning more. Got to see Dave one of my friends last night and tought him what I had learned and he picked up right away. He is going to try to practice with me, so it seems like I will have a lot of help.

Extremely excited about it.

  1. I know the entire alphabet in ASL, and about 50 common words. I learned how to sign 7 years ago when we found out my nephew was born with a brain defect. I wanted to be able to talk to him if there was a chance. Unfortunately, he cannot learn to sign.

It’s very easy to learn once ya get the hang of it. I’m sure you won’t have a problem with it. I’m glad to know someone else was as excited to learn to sign as I was. Good Luck!

  2. That’s fabulous! I remember you saying when I first spoke to you that you wanted to do this…it’s great when wishes happen :)

  3. that is just too neat. i have always wanted to learn this. i will have to look into it and see where i can learn it. any tips on where to look?

  4. That’s so cool! I’ve been thinking about taking ASL someday. I think it’s great that you’re going for it.
