I will be going to Chicago this weekend to visit family wohoo… primarily to celebrate my sister’s birthday but also to see my Mom and Dad, get a haircut (my Mom is a hairdresser), get an oil change and get the car washed. But also to visit some cool places
A couple of people has asked me to tell them what is there to do, or some recomendations when going to Chicago. I am going to start with what I am thinking of doing, and then giving some recomendations.
Well, A must visit for me is Yu’s Mandarin in Schaumburg on Golf road. Its in one of the suburbs, but they have the best chinese food I have ever had. The atmosphere and overall service is above the rest. I would also say that Schaumburg is a good place to visit VS downtown Michigan avenue for out of towners… it has the Woodfield Mall which is huge and better priced than downtown.
If downtown is where you are going to be then my most see are two places, the Shedd Aquarium and Navy Pier. Excellent for both kids and adults. Navy Pier also has a IMAX theater (Now Playing SpiderMan 2)that if you have never had the pleasure to experience you should. Then for eats I recomend Las Tablas Colombian Steak House. You will not have a better meal :). They have two locations one closer downtown on Lincoln and Belmont and another one more northwest on Irving Park road and Cicero.
Other good places to eat that I reconde is Sal & Carvao (Brazilian), Lalos (Mexican), Fornello(Italian)… all with locations either downtown or near. For cheap eats, any hotdog joint is good, get some Gyros while you are it or an Italian beef… hrm Italian Beef… visit Jhonny’s beef in North Avenue… more towards the suburbs but second to none… I am hungry now
There are tons of other museuns and Lincoln Park zoo is free… so just let me know what it is that you are interested on and I will go into more detail, you can always e-mail me and I will be more than happy to be your virtual guide. I love Chicago.
