Anger revisited

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Those whom God wishes to destroy, he first makes angry.”
- Euripides

I had already had a post about anger, not because I am an angry person, but because I do make an effort not to be one. I do have a temper but I try to keep it under control.

The first one illustrates pretty much a philosophy I live by. When you are angry you are just taking time away from being happy. And yes I am a fool that believes that we can be happy all the time. Sure we need to learn about other feelings and that is normal, but I do strive for happiness. Saying fool made me think of Fools for Christ. My friend Sho introduced me to that. But that is another post all together.

Now the second quote, it is true, if anger dominates us we will be destroyed. Anger destroys us; another saying that is more popular folklore than a quote says that anger is just a letter away from danger. So how does anger affect your life? How has it affected it? Has anger been followed by regret? How do you conquer anger?

  1. There’s nothing wrong with anger. I can understand what you mean though.

  2. Anger is an emotion and a very effective one as long as you do not allow it to control you. It because an issue and problem if you are not able to control the anger an handel it in an appropriate manner. I go through anger each time I deal with further progression of my Multiple Sclerosis but it is a very healthy manner I have come to realize. I actually did not know that and in the past would beat myself up for feeling that way until one day in a Group Support Meeting there was someone speaking on how to handle the changes you deal with in your life and she was saying it was normal for people to go through this.

  3. Happiness is a state of mind!

  4. anger seems to be one of the hardest things for me to deal with at times. i pray to God all the time to help me walk through this problem I have. With God’s help I have been able to be angry when I am supposed to be but not act out in ugly ways. How ahve things been your way? things are good here. hope you have a great weekend. God bless
