Week 13

This week, another “getting to know you” meme with a twist.

1. Week 11 you were asked to list four things about you using the letters B-L-O-G. This week do the same thing but use the letters H-U-M-P. Just use one word or feel free to get gabby about it.

Hug, what is better than a hug :)
Uber, this word has always bothered me… maybe it is worth finding its origin.
Mom, talked to her this morning.
Pops, want to talk to him today. I have always called my Dad, Papa… but my neice for one reason or another has nicknamed him Pops and I like it.

-Wow, Uber is actually German for above anything else… interesting… don’t say you never learned anything from my blog. I am not only entertaining I am also educational :P

2. If you were a dessert, what would you be and why?
this one is kind of hard, wow… not sure. Banana cream pie ;)

3. Imagine if you will that you are being held hostage by a pompous, self-grandizing, BORING person on your IM. You’re trying to be polite but really want to brush this person off. Being crazy and creative, list three things that you could tell that person to excuse yourself now AND discourage them from contacting you ever again.
*Love body hair on a women, how hairy are you? (stolen, someone actually said this to a friend of mine, and it fits here because it did the job).
*Did you know that there are telescopes specifically made to look at the sun? (Depending on their reaction we would move to) Yes, I love astrology too… or Just continue talking about lenses.
*WOW, THIS CAPS KEY IS AWESOME.

4. You are a work of art. What are you? Explain why. Any Picasso, complex yet beautiful and inspiring.

5. Do you have an talent that is interesting but totally useless? (Example: being able to touch your nose with our tongue, tear a phone book in half … ) Tell us about it.
All my talents are useless, what are you talking about. This is hard, I don’t think that I have any useless talents, I guess I can fold my tongue, and wiggle my toes big toe independently of all others… not sure of any other ones.

One of the lessons learned

I don’t believe that being positive is something that you are born with, but a concious decision you make. I posted not too long ago about free will, and I think being positive plays a huge role into decision making. It has taken a lot of pain in my life to become the positive person that I am today… I know at first glance that statment does not make a lot of sense but I will elaborate.

Having difficult times in life really shapes who you are, I would not take any of the moments in my life that might be seen as painful… mainly because I believe that they truely shape who I am. I have made the concious decision not to let all the negative things in my past, present or future to turn me into a negative person, I choose to be positive, I choose to look at the good side of things… I feel like there is no other way to look at life. The glass is always half full for me and for the I am starting to see that it does work.

Being positive has built incredible freindships in my life as well as keeping me sane through some rough spots. If I can say anything to anyone at a moment of depression is that, nothing bad happens unless something good is right around the corner. Counting your blessings always helps the fight. Try to be positive for a whole day (if you are not already) smile at people and you will see what kind of difference it makes.

A think that I always like to do when dealing with someone in customer service in any situation is trying to make them laugh if I can. If they are trying to solve a problem for me, I always make sure I acknowledge that they are not the person that cause the problem, but hopefully will be the ones that are going to help me solve it. 99% of the times this strategy has worked for me, and I have gotten a lot more than if I would have been nasty and demanding… don’t get me wrong if I do not get results I alwasy ask to talk to a manager ;) but always in a positive way.

Hellboy – (****)

Starring Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Jeffrey Tambor, Karel Roden, Rupert Evans, John Hurt, Corey Johnson, and Doug Jones
A supernatural action-adventure based on Mike Mignola’s acclaimed Dark Horse Comic series of the same name.

Hellboy is a close one as far is rating. It almost did not make the watch it in theathers four stars but it did. The story is pretty good and does make you want to read the comic, also the characters have the depth they need for the movie. My only complain about the movie is that they could have edited it to be a little shorter. It was getting long, never really boring but somewhat dragging in a couple of places.

The movie made my go watch it at theaters rating, because the special effects are solid. It is really visually impressive by keeping a comic book style of shooting as well as making everything realistic looking. Go check it out.

The Prince and Me (****)

Starring Julia Stiles, Luke Mably, Ben Miller, James Fox, Miranda Richardson, Eliza Bennett, Alberta Watson, and John Bourgeois
Paige, a pre-med student from Wisconsin, is on the fast track toward her lifelong goals. Edward, the Crown Prince of Denmark, is trying to escape a life he never chose. Needing an escape from his royal life, Edward treks to Wisconsin and poses as “Eddie,” a college student. Now they’ve fallen in love and Edward is in line to become King. Paige has to choose between two dreams — becoming a princess or the doctor she’s always wanted to be.

I admit that I do like romantic comedies, not a total sucker for it, but if the story is good I will gladly watch it. The story moves along fairly quickly for all the information they try to fit into the story. The movie did not seem too long and it is a perfect date movie, hence my high rating. Now when this eventually comes out on video I would not rate it as a must buy but rather a rental for a cozy movie watching night.

-*- Spoiler -*-
My beef with this movie came at the end. It is not that I was foolish enough not to expect a happy ending, but that the character of paige who was portrayed during the movie as a person that wanted to be ultimate humanitarian, I expected the movie to end with him going to look for her at some remote location on a rustic town where she would be providing free healthcare to children in need. But that does not totally ruin the movie or anythign, it just dissapointed me.

My favorite Stand up comedians

I have been wathing a lot of comedians lately… went to see George Carlin live, then started a whole week of watching comedy. Revisited Eddie Izzard as well as Robin Williams. Surprisingly enough one of the comics I like a lot Denis Leary doesn’t have its own official website… now that I think about it beyond his roast I have not see much about him. One of the blogs I visit regularly and is part of my blogroll is Gigglechick’s and I did not even know she was into the comedy thing, but I guess she is… that is kind of cool. I have actually talked to a comic :) and maybe some day she becomes famous and I will know a celebrity the right way (before they were famous). Do not care much to meet celebrities, but would not mind someone I know becoming famous.

I love standup, the classic Eddie Murphy stuff is awesome… what ever happened to him, he has not done anything funny in quite some time. What happened Eddie. I hope Eddie Izzard does a US tour soon, he was here last year and I did not see him, I actually have not bought his new DVD yet. That will have to be done soon. So what are your guys’s fav comedians?
