Week 16

This week free association – some fun with “I say, you think” with a crazy sort of Spring twist.

First, as a warm up, using the letters G-A-R-D-E-N reveal six things about yourself.

Gato used to be my nickname during school, is Cat in Spanish. Due to the color of my eyes 😉
Annoyed, because I am running out of things to put on this things, there are so many adjetives in the English language people… I am already resorting to Spanish (See above)
Resourceful, I will learn another language just to keep up with the memes.
Determined to keep it fresh and
Entertain you people
Nutty… I think I just made that clear.

Now that you’re warmed up … Let’s hump, shall we? Below are a list of words. Respond with the first words, words, phrase or insane idea that pops into your head!

1. hoe – house… as in there is some hoes in this house.
2. lips – tender. I am going to leave that one alone.
3. butter – cup… don’t break my heart… I am all musical today.
4. pie – Apple. Love Apple pie.
5. groovy – I refuse to play with this word. I think humanity needs to let go of this word. Is just plainly overused and we all have bills, no one is really groovy anymore.
6. hook – took, Still pissed about seeying groovy.
7. believe – God. That is what I believe.
8. fountain – of Life.
9. bush – Garders :)
10. sprout – Brussels… did I spell that right?

Back to the basics on faith

I know religion is not the most popular topic to talk about. I stay away from politics for the most part and keep my opinions to myself, but as far as religion, lately I have been feeling a calling, well more like since about a year ago. I will have to tell that story in a separate post some time soon but for now I want to share with you guys something that is just very thought provoking. You can find it here in its entirety and here is an excerpt:

Do you know what it is that you believe? And do you know why you believe that? Is it because you were raised that way by your family? Did you hear it from someone or read about it in a book or magazine? Is what you believe the TRUTH? Have you read it in the Bible? How do you KNOW?

Getting back to the basics isn’t always easy. It takes a desire to study, and learn and ask questions. It means prayer, reading the Bible, talking with your Pastor and church members, and making a personal investment in knowing and understanding God’s plan for your life.

What do you do to get back to the basics of your faith? …..

The question is asked, what do you do to get back to the basics of your faith? and my answer is somewhat complicated.

First we need to define who I am. I grew up Catholic, and even though I respect that religion I consider myself more a Christian now than a Catholic. During my teens I attended an Evangelical church, where I felt closer to God than I had ever felt before. That church was not the best, but I do have many good memories. I left that church and have been in the quest for a new church ever since. When I first moved to Michigan I thought that I have found a church but I did not commit to it, now I am hoping I can find one soon.

Now back to the original question, what do I do to get back to the basics… first I determine where I stand. Right now I am more spiritual than religious that is for sure. But I do have a fire burning inside me to become more religious. Second I think it is important to get into a bible study, or at least on my own to start studying the bible. Last and not least is to find a church, and not just any church, but a church where I can grow and really feel comfortable. Those are my goals as far as religions go.

Now, to make reference to the beginning of the article that was written, I think those are all good questions and here are my answers to them.

Do you know what it is that you believe? I believe in God, in Jesus and the trinity. I believe the Jesus existed as a man and that he died in the cross for us to then resurrect.

And do you know why you believe that? Is it because you were raised that way by your family? Did you hear it from someone or read about it in a book or magazine? Is what you believe the TRUTH? Have you read it in the Bible? How do you KNOW?

Yes the Bible has a lot to do with it, and also my family and those around me, but I believe the most because of my own faith, and just the wonder that this world is. Every time I look at the sky and I see the sun shinning through the clouds I think of God.

That said, I am the kind of person that does not like to push his beliefs on others, but if you want to get closer to God I would be the first one to try and help. I believe that you can only be helped when you want to be helped… this is true for every situation in life and your relationship with God is no different.

Favorite band (Monday Music Mambo)

So here we go. Using the letters of your favorite band or artist tell us a little more about yourself.

I have been listening to this band a lot lately… I am sure it will die out… I am a huge Red hot chilli peppers fan, but I will use this one since it is the one that I am listening to right now.

Motorcyclist. I love motorcyles… no news there.
Admirer of beauty, specially nature and just all of Gods creation.
Reader… even though right now I am stuck in my current book, I have a couple others lined up… maybe I should just stop reading it for now.
Outgoing, I really try to be. Like to have fun.
Outspoken, this gest me in trouble a lot of times, but at the same time I think is one of my best qualities.
Naugty… oh yes… I can be. But we will quite while we are ahead.

Fortunate, I thank God every day for everything he has given me.
Intricate… or just plain complicated sometimes.
Versitile. I like to think I am anyways.
Entrepernurial… I am sure I bastardized this word, but I do think I am that. LOL

Wow, a 3 day blogging break

I think this is the longest time that I did not blog in a while. I have been super busy with work and Friday was not expection. I finished up what I needed to do and started my weekend. I spent this weekend in Chicago, visiting and having a fun time with family and friends. It was simply awesome.

I also got to see Timeline and Big Daddy this weekend which I will review when I get some time maybe later on tonight. Today is Monday Music Mambo so lets get to it…

::A geek in the family::

A geek– Hey, who handles tech support at your place? You? …the six year old? …or someone from outside? …and how about in your web space? No, we’re not looking for techs; we’re just curious .

ould be me, I am the computer geek of not only my family but also friends. Well at least the friends that are not already in the computer field.

in the– computer? Just a curiosity for the designer types: what Operating System are you running? …and which browser? Since sites can show up differently in different browsers it’s more than a casual question.

Well, I am all over the place with browsers, I use Mozilla and IE 5 and 6. Depending on what computer I am at. OS Win2k, but mostly not by choice.

Family– Do any family members read your place? Do they care? Do they have a clue? …and how about your ‘off line’ friends? …or do you supply a little bit of separation there?

I know a lot of my friends read me, my family overseas does also. My inmediate family not so muhc, if they do, they don’t comment 😉
